As a world-famous phenomenon, eSport has brought about a certain revolution in the world of sport. The stadiums hardly need to be filled and the channels have no broadcasting rights to compete for. Indeed, esports does not involve the use of these traditional means of exhibition. In a purely digital world, it owes its prosperity to Internet streaming. Lovers of video games and gamings, discover here the different channels to live your competitions on the esport.
Derived from the contraction of the English term "electronic sport", eSport simply refers to the practice of competitive video games. In reality, it refers to virtual games in which the player must compete against an opponent or a group of other players. This discipline gathers millions of fans (players as well as spectators) and has been gaining momentum in recent years.
Many amateur and professional tournaments are organised online through the internet, but also during spectacular events. Contrary to what one might think, this phenomenon is not so young. In 1970, the first video game competitions were already being recorded. However, the arrival of the Internet connection has increased e-sports tenfold, giving it a global dimension.
Over the years, the very first big wave of streamers gave rise to a number of esport streaming platforms. These have enabled over 100 million people, worldwide, to follow the best live eSport tournaments.
Considered as a must in streaming, Twitch is the site that has brought a real change in the vision of esports. To date, it is counted among the largest platforms on the market with millions of users.
With the schedule improving and updating over time, the gaming content is quite rich and diverse on Twitch. These include titles from League of Legends, CS: GO, Fortnite, Overwatch, Apex Legends, Dota 2, World of Warcraft, etc. In a few words, almost all of the most important, most watched and most played games in the world are covered by the platform.
While Twitch is growing with its live broadcasts of eSport events, YouTube did not want to be left behind. With the YouTube Gaming section, gamers have a space in which they have the opportunity to offer their gameplay live. Currently on YouTube, Fortnite wins the title of the most watched game with over 9 million views per month. Call of Duty and Minecraft tutorials are among the most watched videos on the platform.
Furthermore, YouTube only manages to live stream the most important tournaments: League of Legends or Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This is because the platform is not yet able to manage agreements with the houses providing the major eSports leagues.
When it comes to business, Facebook and Google are two remarkable rivals. YouTube's entry into the streaming market has seen a retaliation from the social network. Indeed, Facebook has set up a tracking system that allows you to see your friends' tournaments and gameplays directly in your stream.
On the other hand, Facebook has been even more aggressive in terms of tournaments. It has made deals with the ESL to get exclusivity on certain games such as Global Offensive, Counter-Strike and Dota 2.
